Initial proposal.

Working Title: -
I am investigating the safe printmaking with Non-toxic practice by Etching without Acid which is needed to explore and save the health of all concern practitioners  from the hazards of acids and solvents which produce aggressive gasses and aerosols.

Research Question:-
How to investigate the safe printmaking with nontoxic by Etching without Acid and Explore safe alternatives to Toxic printmaking processes?

Project aim:-
This project aims to (1) Raise Awareness about demonstrate safe alternatives to Toxic printmaking processes to Pakistan’s printmaking Art institutions.

Objective #1
(I need to) investigate the differences between other Nontoxic methods and etching without acids.

Objective #2
(I need to) evaluate other relevant research into the use of nontoxic safe Printmaking.

Objective #3
(I need to) understand the major theories of safe alternatives to Toxic printmaking processes by an electro etching method.

Objective #4
(I need to) understand theories of safe alternatives Printmaking more generally.

  1. Definitely moving forward now.

    However, I think that there are still some gaps and progress is a little too slow!

    You talk very generally about the problems of toxic printing but you never 'shown' what they are in detail: that is, you have not shown any evidence for this claim. What are the health problems caused by toxic printing methods? Is it simply a matter of health or are there environmental problems too?

    You have not yet shown which aspects of the printing process are toxic and in which ways (e.g. acids, inks, clean up?).

    You have not yet shown anything about the particular context for your study – printmaking in Pakistan.

    I think that you could treat these as objectives and produce some materials that provide solid foundations for your project through a detailed critical review. In the meantime I think some initial research would get this moving using your blog as a publishing/ documentary medium:

    1 Post 1: discuss/ show the problem you are addressing (both generally and in the particular context of your project) use images, notes, references etc;

    2 Post 2: discuss/ show which aspects of the printing process are currently toxic (plate production, inking, clean-up) – a process diagram showing toxicity problems would be good;

    3 Post 3: a brief description of the major alternative methods with images;

    4 Post 4: a comparative table: axis 1 lists the major potential non-toxic methods — axis 2 lists the criteria you are using to evaluate the potential of these methods for your project. You use the table to make brief evaluation/ comparison and use that as the basis for decisions about the technological/ material base of your project.

    On the basis of this research it would be possible to make a strong argument (supported by evidence) for purchasing technology and materials for your experimental work prior to your Definitive Proposal being passed by your committee.

    At present, that argument has not been made made in a meaningful way. Make it quickly!
